15 PHOTOGRAPHERS ANNOUNCE GROUND-BREAKING GALLERY SHOW, "DIGITALLY ENTWINED"
Fifteen Chicago-area photographers will
be showcasing their work in a first-of-its-kind gallery exhibition at
Acme Art Works (1741 N. Western Avenue) from Friday, March 2 through
Saturday, March 31st, 2007. The self-produced show, "Digitally
Entwined," will feature the diverse talents of 15 brought together through Flickr.com, the photography community.
The brainchild of "ChiFlickr" group administrator, Bernadette Aguilar, "Digitally Entwined" is a unique showcase of beautiful, poignant and impeccably executed imagery mirroring the diversity of subjects and styles found on Flickr.com : Haunting and intimate portraiture; surreal landscapes; fine art black & white photography; revealing street photography from around the world, including the visionary carnivals of Morocco, Sweden and India; compelling abstract and minimalist photography; dramatic interpretations of Chicago's architectural beauty. All active members of the local Flickr.com group "ChiFlickr," the featured photographers meet regularly to socialize, share photographic techniques and participate in photo safaris throughout Chicago and surrounding areas, illustrating the power of Internet tools to create meaningful "real-life" events.
The following artists will be showcased at "Digitally Entwined": John Agnew, Bernadette Aguilar, Christopher Brown, Nathaniel Chongsiriwatana, Kevin Eatinger, Chase Fancher, Ken Ilio, Olivia Leigh, Adam Howitt, Jerroid Marks, Barry Peterson, Aurora Samar, Ramnath Siva, Dell Thornhill and Matthew Vietti.
The opening reception will be held from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday, March 2, featuring alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and music from a local DJ D13.
